I just started restoring an old town war canoe, serial number 157107 and I'd appreciate a copy of or a link to the build sheet.

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 157107 is a 25 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, war canoe model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between February, 1952 and June, 1953. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 23rd, 1953 to Mechanic Falls, Maine. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson

Bravo on that! It takes a special set to take one of those babies on. Many W/C folks are dialed in on the 16's. Most of us are shy about 18's. Some of us have taken on the 20's but the 25 and above club is pretty exclusive.
Post some pictures as you go.
