Serial #179042

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 179042 is a 15 foot long featherweight model with Dacron in place of canvas and a keel. This was built between September and November, 1967. It shipped on November 28th, 1967 to Montrose, Alabama. The original exterior paint color was dark green. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join, or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your research. Unfortunately, I had the wrong number. I was sent a picture through text messaging and the reflection messed me up. The correct number is #179041. In the meantime, Lane was going through some old papers from his fathers house and found the original build papers. Our canoe is Design #4, which is exactly what ours looks like. It was half built on Sept. 28, 1967, second varnish on Feb 29, 1968. It was shipped on March 5, 1968 to Fernald's Marine in Newbury, Mass. We are so glad to have this information. Again, my apologies, and thank you for your help.
