Old Town Canoe models - and history

Benson,

Has anyone ever created a spreadsheet of the models of canoes sold by Old Town - and the years - from the catalogs?

In my search for boats I keep finding models I never knew existed.
It would be a tedious task, but the results would be informative.

Just noticed a Wahoo for sale in the Ithaca NY area on Craigslist. (not interested for myself)

Thanks,

Dan Miller created an excellent summary that is available from http://store.wcha.org/The-Complete-Old-Town-Canoe-Company-Catalog-Collection-CD-ROM.html as part of the Old Town catalog collection. There is a short version showing the wooden canoe models available at http://forums.wcha.org/knowledgebase/Manufacturers:Old+Town+Canoe+Company and the details at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=24296&d=1360243338 list the forms from the early factory inventories. I've also started an article for the Wooden Canoe Journal about the models that were never listed in the catalogs (XX, MC, English, early Molitor, Weldwood, etc.) but haven't made much progress on it recently.

The Wahoo model shown in the pictures was listed in the catalogs from 1968 to 1978. The gray interior is a sign of an early one. They are great fun to sail.

Benson,

Thank you - just ordered the catalog.
3 years ago I had one canoe a 1988 Camper.
Now there are 10 canoes here, plus I've given some to family members - that's not counting all the canoes that have come and gone in the last 3 years as I upgraded the fleet.

It's a sickness - but a good one. Could be worse, I could be into classic cars...

Hope to meet you at the Assembly this year.

Russ

Thanks to your feedback I sold the canoe today for more than I paid and I get to keep 3 Old Town paddles, a fan shaped seat back and a generic wood paddle.
Sold it with 2 aluminum/plastic paddles to some people who were perfect for the canoe.

I only bought it for the paddles and the seat back.
