Old Town 182711

It is 18' and I was told it was a guide and it has a sail. I believe it was built in the 60s.

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 182711 is an 18 foot long Otca model with a keel. It was built between February and March, 1969. The original exterior paint color was white. It shipped on May 6th, 1969 to Grand Rapids, Michigan. This canoe was purchased on October 7th, 1969 and moved to Plainwell, Michigan as shown on the back side of this record. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. The sail rig isn't mentioned on the build record so that may have been added after it left the factory. Feel free to reply if you have any other questions.

Benson
