Old Town 12' Special Auto Pack ??

The owner brought this by for an estimate. It seems all original and in good condition, but we'd never seen this model before and thought other members might be interested.
Not sure that it says auto pack but we believe Benson will know (as he almost always does)!

Interesting find and I appreciate the posting. I suspect that this was the original name for what became the Sport Boat model introduced in the 1941 catalog as shown below. This was probably Old Town's answer to Penn Yan's Car Top Boats as shown from their 1939 catalog. Fun stuff,

Benson

Interesting that despite their similar dimensions, the 12' Penn Yan is 57 lb and the Old Town is 98.

Catalog weights should always be taken with a grain of salt. The weight jumped to 57 pounds in the 1940 Penn Yan catalog. You may have also noticed that the Old Town is two inches deeper and wider. Penn Yan introduced bigger versions of this model in the 1950s that were closer in weight to the Old Town.
