Thought I'd just post about a recent project making a leather canoe tump. Ended up modelling my tump after the one on the Northwest Woodsman site. The lashing system with the paddles is the one described in Ritzenthaler's text, The Building of a Chippewa Indian Birch-Bark Canoe. It seems to be the reverse of the more common lashing system of paddle blades attached to the center yoke. Simple project for a neat piece of gear.
