Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 106323 is a 15 foot long, AA (or top) grade, fifty pound model with red Western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, and a keel. It was built between May and July, 1930. The original exterior paint was dark green. It shipped on June 8th, 1931 to Brookfield, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Question. She looks like she was set up as a sailing craft… the seat has the round brass inset and the floor boards were cut around a wood piece that looks like it would accept the mast.
I didn’t see that on the build sheet…. Retro fit?
Also, are the 50# 15’s a bit less common? Seems like I don’t see many.

It was not unusual for a sail rig to be added after a canoe left the factory. The estimates at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/models.html indicate that about 6999 fifteen foot long fifty pound models were made between 1911 and 1966 which is an average of 125 per year. This is "a bit less common" than several of their other models. It is still available today as shown at https://www.islandfallscanoe.com/old-town-canoes.aspx from the Island Falls Canoe Company.
