Carlton build sheet search

Hello
I'm hoping you can help me find a build sheet for my 16 ft Carlton canoe serial # 99920.
Thank you so much for your time.
Jon

My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 99920 since the Carleton serial numbers stop at 20540. It was not unusual for an Old Town to be shipped as a Carleton (and vice versa) in the rush to fill an order. This is a 16 foot long, AA (or top) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between November, 1928 and July, 1929. The original exterior paint color was violet. It shipped on July 6th, 1929 to Ripon, Wisconsin. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Does it have the large or small Carleton tag? See http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?attachments/2196/ for examples. Are the decks the Carleton style heart shape or the Old Town ogee style? See https://woodencanoemuseum.org/index.php/decks for examples. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Thanks,

Benson
