Acadian Princess

Hello,
I think everyone knows the famous "Acadian Princess" and their Boy Scout outfits were outstanding. Thinking they were very fashionable out on the water. So, without further ado, I now present them.

Thanks, Patty-- and thanks for the pictures! We had a PERFECT time at the assembly. This little red canoe we paddled in the paddle-by is owned by Dave Winer and was restored by Ray Schell.

Old Friends, New Friends, and Forever Friends

The day finally came for Macky to meet Kathy after communicating on the WCHA Forum for months. Also, Macky meeting Dave (Thirsty) after also communicating back and forth. Also, Dave delivered Macky's canoe to the Assembly! Last but not least, meeting new people who all share a common interest in canoes. We were truly blessed by the overwhelming friendliness of the people and the kindness everyone showed. Not knowing what it was all about and this being the first time to the Assembly, it was just an amazing event and one we will always cherish. Thank you all for your help, encouragement, and for being so nice. We certainly enjoyed our first experience beyond our wildest dreams. Hope to see you all next year.

A Photographer's Delight

Just enoying the moment of all the beautiful canoe sails and the gorgeous day with the puffy white clouds. When lookin' around I see this tree branch. It is kinda shaped like a canoe??? WOW! Lookin' through it, I see 3 canoe sails out in the distance! Couldn't pass up this delightful moment...a Photographer's Delight for sure! I took two photos at different angles. Nature's perfect wooden frame!

The best part of Assembly is meeting all the people we've only known through the forums or email... and seeing again those we met earlier, but only have a chance to spend time with at this once-a-year event. The assembly-days go by so fast and there's so much to do, I came home wishing there'd been at least a couple more days, just for visiting with the people.

Yes, Patty-- the folks who are part of this group are the best!

The unknown ADVENTURE

You just never know what kind of adventure you are in for when you climb in to a canoe. Sometimes it is a smooth day, sometimes it can be a little unknown. This day was one of those. We were headin' out for the great "Spitfire Lake" that we heard was beyond the Lower St. Regis. We saw a canoe up ahead of us taking a left along the shoreline. So, I thought we were headin' that way since this was our first trip to Spitfire. But, Macky had other plans. We took the "waters less traveled" if you know what I mean. We took the scenic route. Through lily pads, weeds, and the unknown path through mosquitos, deer flies, and who knows what. But, as it turned out it was a little Photographer's dream. The lilies were in bloom and the little puffy clouds with their reflections in the water......and the Canadian geese hiding in the weeds. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow.....you never know when an unknown adventure will turn out to be just fine. Sigh...... :)
