TAKU CANOE MODEL

I just read the discussions regarding the origin or this particular model, which is a beautiful representation of a large Taku canoe with sail from the Solomon Islands. The "taku" canoes are Polynesian canoes inspired by the
construction technics in use on the Ellice Islands but with the adaptation of the Micronesian sail as well as
identical extremities of the bow and stern. Yes the various components of oceanic canoes are fitted together
using ropes and "knots" whereby the proper terms are "lashed" together using "sennit". Attached a picture
showing hidden lashings gunnels to hull on a Samoan canoe model.
