Tidbits is a place for special pieces of information that just don't seem to fit anywhere else, but are too precious to let get away! We will be compiling special lists of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and other bits of wisdom from sources on and off the Internet. If you have something that you think might belong here, please send it along!

The National Sportsman proclaims themselves "Pioneer Advocates of the Game Restoration Program." The magazine was 10 cents in March of 1931. What makes this interesting is not the articles, but the cover and the ads. I've put up the canoe related ads here. There are some of our favorite companies, and some that I've never heard of. Enjoy!
Casual: Swimming With Canoes is another fine article by John McPhee from the August, 10th, 1998 issue of The New Yorker magazine. He is also the author of The Survival Of the Bark Canoe. This excerpt was discovered on the web by Patty Macleish. Thanks Patty! It has also been included now in Wooden Canoe Journal, Issue 89.
Bob Peritsky has brought us a really nice Strip Building Reference Guide.
Chris Crandall contributed a great little article on building Six Hour Canoes that you should really read if you ever thought of putting one of these babies together.
Marlon MacAllister has brought upon us a great little ditty on the ritual of Christening Your Canoe that you just must read!
