This book is a definitive effort about building a cedar strip canoe. This book is a step-by-step guide to choosing a model and building a strip canoe. I have used this book exclusively in building and have recommended it to anyone wishing to build a stripper. The thing I like best is that it seems that when you have a question you can turn to the book and find an answer. I found that building from the tables of offset was relatively easy after some study of the method. You do not have to be able to loft to get the designs. From this book I have personally built the Peterborough model and the Chestnut Prospector. A friend has done the Red Bird. All have turned out very well. I found that no special tools were needed to construct the canoes and that anyone with room can build a canoe. The book recommends using the West Epoxy system and I concur. West will make a builder out of anyone. Get the book and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
