LOVES Wooden Canoes
Over this past Winter I built my second stripper, the Jack's Special with a couple of Morris features. I added the Morris touches because it will likely take me several years to finish restoring my Morris and I wanted to see if I could. I got the forms from a friend who had built the boat the previous Winter and paid the royalty for building a second boat from the forms.
It came out rather well. Inwales and outwales are douglas fir, strips are a combination of WRC and Manitoba cedar, decks, thwart and seat are cherry.
From the beginning I had planned to paint the outside and leave the inside clear. The finish is a cream colour that goes well with the English Chestnut stain used on all the wood.
