Wooden Canoeist
The Upper Chesapeake Chapter had its official kickoff meeting on Saturday, February 19th. About 30 of us from the Maryland area gathered at the Tower Oaks Lodge - www.clydes.com - in Rockville to begin the chapter and set up a schedule for the upcoming year. The lodge is fashioned on an Adirondack Great Camp theme and features more than a dozen wood/canvas and birch bark canoes in one of the main dining areas. After an hour or so of checking out the décor, we had a brief introductory meeting, distributed a draft schedule for the year then got down to some serious planning about what we were having for lunch.. Once it warms up a bit, two initial paddles with be in the Washington DC area and on the Pocomoke River around Snow Hill on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We invite anyone in the Maryland area to get in touch with us. And also thanks to Mac for all his work in getting the chapter off to such a fine start.
