Curious about Wooden Canoes
I just purchased two antique Old Town Canoes at an estate sale here in Northern Minnesota. Serial numbers are 113281 15 and 119448 16. Both are in need of some serious work. The estate owners know nothing of their history besides the fact they that both have been hanging in the boathouse at their cabin as long as they can remember. I think the 16 footer may be an HW model, CS grade judging by construction but I could be wrong. My guess on the 15 footer is a 50 pound model, CS grade. Any help or build sheet information regarding these two canoes would be appreciated immensely! Thanks in advance for the information and use of this fantastic website!

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
