Two O.T.

Treewater

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
Hello everyone,

Can I get the build record on two O.T. Canoes # 128076 & 150592?
Is it possible to get photocopies? The on-line info I have seen others get is sometimes pretty dim? Thanks.
Tim

The Old Town canoe with serial number 128076 is an 18 foot long, AA grade, OTCA model with mahogany gunwales, decks, thwarts and seats a floor rack and a keel. It was built between July 1939 and April, 1940. The original exterior paint color was gray. A mast seat and step and rudder hangers were included as well. It shipped on May 3rd, 1940 to Hartford, Conn. The canoe was damaged in shipment and delivery refused. The canoe was returned to OT on July 2, 1940 with the stern end crushed, repaired and sent back to Portland, Maine on August 17, 1940. A scanned copy of this build record can be found by following the link behind the attached thumbnail image below.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 150592 is a 17 foot long, AA grade, HW model with mahogany gunwales and a keel. It was built between April 1948 and September, 1948. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on May 13th, 1949 to Fall River, Mass. Reference is made on the back of two different inquiries in 1981 and 1985.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
