In the spring I am planning on canoeing the Tahquamenon River, in the Eastern U.P , from Newberry to Lake Superior. Has anyone paddled this part of the river? Is it loaded with log james and rocks or is it mostly deep water, fast moving? Appreciate any and all information. Tyler Noel Niles Michigan

I got home today and grabbed "Canoeing Michigan Rivers" by Jerry Dennis and Craig Date. A comprehensive guide to 45 Rivers. Lo, and behold! The Tahquamenon is not even mentioned. I was surprised. Second biggest waterfall east of the Mississippi and not mentioned in the book. the lower section is a big river but I don't know about the upper part. I think a google search is in order.

Thanks

I really thank you for the information, looking forward to my adventure.
Know it will be as beautiful as Hiawatha says its was.
