would appreciate any information possible and value if in great condition?
Someone with the build records will be along presently. As for value, give this post a good read: http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/how-much-is-my-old-wooden-canoe-worth.57/
It all boils down to finding the right buyer, and what similar canoes are going for. Good luck!
Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 180869 is a 16 foot long Otca model with a keel. It was built between May and June, 1968. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped in July 16th, 1968 to Des Moines, Iowa. The back side of this record indicates that it may have moved to Plano, Texas by August, 1992 when there was a previous request for a copy of this build record. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. The link that Paul listed previously and the similar canoes at http://www.wcha.org/classifieds are usually the best ways to value a canoe like this. Feel free to reply if you have any other questions.
