I have an antique wooden canoe that I believe is a Penn Yan circa 1900 - 1920. Fully restored, and I am seeking more detailed info on it please. I wish to know the date, make and model if possible. The serial number is GN 264. The photos should tell the rest of the story.
    Thank you!!

The information at http://www.wcha.org/content/penn-yan-boat-company indicates that this is a Scout model. There are no known serial number records for Penn Yan so there isn't much more that anyone here can tell you. It is a very nice looking canoe,

    Benson

    Cape,
To give some prospective on the age of your canoe, Penn Yan Boat Company was founded in 1921.
Reed & Prince Manufacturing did start selling Frearson drive screws, often confused with Phillips drive, until the late 30’s.
I noticed the Reed Prince Frearson seat and thwart bolts are on your canoe.
