Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town with serial number 156673 is an 11.5 foot long dinghy that shipped in 1952 as shown below. My guess is that if you have a 16 foot long canoe then it has a different number. Can you post some pictures here showing the numbers from each end of the canoe? The information at http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/791/ may help if some of the digits are hard to read. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck,

Benson

My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 156679 since this is the only canoe in the 15667x group. This is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Yankee model with a keel. It was built between November, 1951 and February, 1952. The original exterior paint color was dark Yale blue. It was shipped on February 20th, 1952 to Boston, Mass. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the project,

Benson
