Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
I have just aquired a 1960's vintage 16' Old Town guide. The 1 5/16" thick,15" long,5 1/2" wide cedar decks don't appear to be original. What is the right thickness, length, width and wood type? Thanks.

Original cedar decks would be highly unusual from Old Town in the 1960s. They were usually ash or another hard wood and would be much less than one inch thick. Your build record would probably have a special note if the cedar decks were original.

This is the first Old Town I've seen north of the border. Unfortunately the serial numbers were removed many years ago. How thick would cedar decks be?
