Serial # XTC97325M74B

Would appreciate any info to identify this canoe.

Wood floor, ~16 ft, single thwart, two white plastic seats mounted just below gunwale. Maybe fiberglass.

Thanks!!

After some research, I'm thinking this might be a Carleton 16 or 17 from mid to late 1970s.

Welcome any confirmation.

Your research is correct, the Old Town canoe with serial number 197325 and hull identification number XTC97325M74B is a 17 foot long fiberglass Carleton model that weighed 79 pounds. It was built between August and September of 1973. The original exterior gelcoat color was avocado. It shipped on September 24th, 1973 to Chicago, Illinois. The back side of the card shows that the warranty card was returned from Mokina, Illinois indicating that it was purchased on September 25th, 1976 from the dealer. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
