Ps; probably my most favorite canoe related book is "Great Heart" about an expedition gone wrong. There are other books that also relate to the epic early 1900's Hubbard/Wallace expedition as well. Another favorite is "Challenge The Wilderness", by Clayton Klein, the biography of George Elson, the native guide that survived the ill-fated Hubbard expedition and that guided Mrs. Mina Hubbard back through the wilderness area that claimed the life of her husband.

Other favorites are writings by Nessmuk, George Washington Sears, and his Adirondack exploits. Our Webmaster once claimed that Nessmuk was a freeloader. You'd have to read his stuff to figure out why!

Have fun with this forum, paddlers!
Dave
