Mystery Peterborough Region-style Smoothskin Lapstrake Canoe

A friend pointed me to this one, and it is now in the canoe yard.

Very much Peterborough-like in style, except constructed as smoothskin lapstrake. No identification located anywhere. Previous owner's research suggested Wm. English. I'm not so sure.

15' 9" x 29" x 10" amid, 20" stems.

I'm wondering if it could be one of the St. Lawrence River builders - a St. Lawrence Boat Works catalog lists a canoe that could be described as this.

That was quick. I just noticed that one this morning...pretty close to you to boot.
Nice catch if you bought it. I was curious to see what was marked on the thwart tags...
 
I think you may be right about the possibility of a local builder. Are those butternut decks? It's an interesting boat regardless. Nice catch.
