I have restored an old guide boat. When I acquired it, there was still a Wisconsin registration number on it. I contacted the Wisconsin DNR and was told the boat was a 14 ft Litt made in 1940 and last registered in 1983. Has anyone ever heard of or have any information about the Litt boat company?

I have not been able to find any reference to a Litt boat company with a google.com search or in the Coast Guard database. Andreas Rhude compiled a list of all the historic small boat manufacturers in Wisconsin and Minnesota but I didn't see it listed there either. Please reply here if you ever figure it out. Sorry,

Thanks for looking Benson. So far it is a mystery. There is a chance that Litt is an abbreviation for something longer. I know Wisconsin registrations abbreviate most manufacture's names. Such as StarCraft might be "star" Larson could be Lar etc.

Your best chance may be to see if anyone from the Wisconsin DNR can provide a translation. The list at http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic1.aspx?company=litt&sort=mic includes 26 companies with "litt" in their name and most are some form of little. The lists from Andreas Rhude that I mentioned before don't contain any companies with "litt" in their name. Good luck,

    Benson
