I found number 22000 in a garage under a pile of junk. Does anyone have build history, model or any other info? Thank you.

Welcome and congratulations, the Kennebec canoe with serial number 22000 is shown on pages 96 and 97 of volume four in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to an 15 foot long Kennebec model which shipped as a 16 foot long canoe. It was planked by Roy on October 5th, 1929. Saucier applied the canvas covering and Giroux put on the first filler coat on the same day. Saucier applied the second filler coat on October 26th, 1929. It was railed by Brooks on the same day. The "F 22" (Function number 22 or the keel was completed by Thib. on October 30th, 1929. The original color information is blank. It shipped to location "30-415" on June 9th, 1930. This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.

The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). A description of the project to preserve other records like these is available at if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See to learn more about the WCHA and to join.

More information about this and other Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection available from in the WCHA store.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
