Folks,

I won this auction on Ebay a few days ago. I got this in the mail yesterday and turns out that it is a fake and is going back to the seller. It looks nice but in fact it is two copied items, the indian decal on the top and a seperate canoe decal pasted ( that is outlined in black sharpie )on the blue matte. The paper is new in the back and the wire to hang the display is also new. The seller states they will take it back and state they new nothing about it???????? for a full refund but if someone was bidding on it I would caution them on the second go around if they re-post it.

It does pay to be cautious. The decal in the frame is real, the rest of it not, as you discovered.

There is a Morris tin sign frequenting the 'bay lately being passed off as original; it's not. Same is true for Old Town tin signs that appear with regularity.

I recently bought a Bristol fishing rods poster that was listed as "probably original." I doubted it, but the price was low enough I took a chance. It wasn't, rather it was a more recent repro, probably done as a run of posters, probably in the 1980s. It will make a nice decoration in the shop nonetheless.
