I have just gotten a 1957 Old town 15 foot runabout. Do you have the build sheet possibly? Serial number looks like 1G9818.
Thank you very much.

Welcome and congratulations, Old Town didn't use letters in serial numbers so my guess is that you have serial number 169818. The Old Town build record for this number shows a 14 foot long Lapstrake 16 model boat in AA (or top) grade with a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between March and May, 1960. The original exterior color was white with a red copperpac (i.e. Woolsey Paint) bottom. It shipped to Horseheads, New York on May 27th, 1960. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions,

Benson

Hi Benson, Thank you for the help.
The info matches the boat. It's great to know more about it. I'll donate some dough as a thank you.
Here's some pics of it in its present condition.
