Most canoes that appear in TV ads are plastic or metal, which is discouraging. Occasionally you see a wood/canvas, which is nice.

But take a look at this recent Dr Pepper ad. A real cedarstrip! And paddled by a bear to boot. Can anyone ID it (the canoe)?

It looks like a stripper.
Check the variation in the color of the strips, clearly not full length strips, and no tack holes.
Looks like a copy of either a Willits or Peterborough.

Someone is running an ad in the Los Angeles Craigslist claiming to be the owner of that canoe and several others including an Easdale that was used in a John Wayne movie.

That is Jack Cohen's Willits. It is a Camp model that came out of Oregon. He scored that boat for 800 bucks if I remember correctly, and just scored another Willits with a complete sail rig, and a few other goodies for 1K. He has a website here: http://www.canoejack.com

I have bought a couple of canoes from him. Jack aggressively searches the ads, and does a great job of promoting canoes, and wooden canoes. (He also saves my pocketbook from things like 1K Willits canoes. That one was right here in Reno, about 6 miles from me. I never saw it!)

Cool Mark,

That guy has some nice boats.

Notice that the 2 clips are different, same subjects though.
And I still didn't see any tacks, wonder if they airbrushed them out.
