    The following is the 2014 list of events hosted or co-hosted by the Great Rivers Chapter of the WCHA:

    May 24-25 Display your canoe at the 4th annual celebration of the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum in Spooner in northwest Wisconsin on Saturday, May 24, and join chapter and museum folks for a paddle on a nearby river, Sunday, May 25. Display your wooden canoe or boat at the museum, 310 N. Front Street, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday. We’ll begin the Sunday shuttle from the Museum at 11 a.m.

    August 2 Paddle and socialize at the annual canoe and duck boat gathering at Norm’s Hideaway on Lake Koshkonong between Ft. Atkinson and Edgerton, 1 p.m. start.

    Directions: From Albion, about 4 miles north of Edgerton, take Highway 106 east about five miles. Turn right onto Loga Road. Turn right onto Carcajou Road. Turn left at W8639 Kuehn Road. From Fort Atkinson, take Highway 106 west to Carcajou Rd. Turn left on Carcajou Road to Kuehn Road. For more information, Dennis Ehle, 608-873-6313.

    August 15-17 WCHA Regional Assembly at Shell Lake, in northwestern Wisconsin. Join us for a weekend of paddling, boat displays and educational activities at City Park in Shell Lake. Friday features a visit to the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum in nearby Spooner which will showcase Shell Lake canoes.

    We’ll display our canoes and share information about them throughout the day on Saturday. There will also be a vendor area and demonstrations as well as a trading blanket later in the afternoon, where you can buy, sell and trade canoeing related equipment. We’ll paddle on Shell Lake both days and have group campfire each evening.

    After clean up and pack up on Sunday, participants will be able to choose from paddles on the Brule, Namakagon or St. Croix rivers or Hunt Hill Audubon Lakes.

    Sept. 4-8 Seventh Annual Jag Lake Fall Color get together, our most popular event of the year. Camp, paddle, fish, bike and socialize at the Jag Lake Campground and nearby waters, Boulder Junction, Vilas County.

    We have the group campground reserved Thursday through Sunday evening so you can arrive on Thursday and leave Monday morning. We’ll paddle on Jag Lake daily with sojourns to nearby waters for those interested. There’ll be a group dinner Saturday evening. A $5 donation is asked. Camping fee is $20 for the weekend.

    Directions: Go 13 miles north of Woodruff on Hwy. 51. Turn right onto County H. Go 1.4 miles and turn right onto North Creek Road. Follow it one mile to the campground on the left.
