Floor Rack Question

Floor Racks

jmann,

I am certainly not the expert on floor racks but I have never seen staples in a floor rack that was manufactured by the factory before 1965. Generally, the manufacturer used the same tacks (clenched) that were used in the canoe. I'm sure there were exceptions and other after market variations along with good intended do-it-yourself folks. In my opinion, staples would not hold up very long without glue.

If you want to research further, please post a photo so others can see and comment.

Thanks,

Ric

Thanks for the input. I'll try to get a few photos posted. These staples remind me of the type that you would see in a wooden pallet. The overall workmanship is not the best, especially the cross pieces. This leads me to believe it's and after market add-on.
Regards
Joe

Floor rack follow-up

This is a follow-up to my question regarding Old Town floor racks and staples.
Did Old Town ever use staples to fasten floor racks together? If so when did they start?
Does the rack in the attached photos look like original equipment?
Does the workmanship look "factory" or "after market"?
What do you think?
Thanks
