The Old Town canoe with serial number 171572 is an 18 foot Otca model with half ribs, a keel, and outside stems. It was built between November, 1961 and April, 1962. The original exterior paint color was dead grass. It shipped on April 17th, 1962 to Newington, Conn. It appears to have moved to Hebron, Conn by April 15th, 1980 when there was a phone call requesting this record as shown on the back side. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.

These scans were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

This is probably the canoe shown at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7114415105 although the outside stems appear to have been removed. It is also possible that it could have another number or be from a different manufacturer. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
