On a typically hot August 12, 2020, these two Dacron-covered wooden canoes were paddled on the Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, WV. I was in the light green canoe in the background, which is the strip-built Canadian canoe that was used to demonstrate how Dacron can be used to cover a hull at Assembly in 2017.

The dark green canoe in the foreground is OT 179872, a 15' featherweight which left the factory in 1968. It was restored during the winter of 2019-20 by Dan Liscinsky, who remembers when his Dad ordered it. In addition to a good cleanup, it took 4 new ribs & some planking. To strengthen the floor, half-ribs were added, and new mahogany gunwales were cut. It left the factory covered in Dacron and painted dark green, so that is the way Dan re-covered it, then painted it with Kirbys dark green. This was its re-launch, the float being enjoyed by Dan, Sandi and Harlee the dog. Tom McCloud
