I recently came to be custodian of a lovely 18' long Chestnut canoe. It's 18' long 36" wide and 13 1/2" deep. It's "close ribbed" with a very flat bottom. I believe it's an Ogilvy special "Dave" model. I purchased it from the original owner who said he picked it up at the Chestnut Canoe factory in Fredericton, N.B. in 1968 or 1969 (he couldn't remember which). He said he used it in N.B. after he bought it and then took it home where it hung in his garage for the past 38 years. It's in absolutely PERFECT CONDITION. Any idea as to the value and is there any way of dating a Chestnut to a specific year?
