Well I got my new canoe cleaned up and found an additional digit in the serial number.

Could you please send me the build sheet for boat with serial # 172382. Thank you.

Most of us here have missed a serial number digit at least once so don't feel too bad. The Old Town canoe with serial number 173382 is a 16 foot long Otca model with a keel. It was built between August and September, 1962. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 6th, 1963 to Bozeman, Montana. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thank yo so much. That is awesome. I'm a little bummed it wasn't built in 1922 but still stoked all the same. I lived in Bozeman as a child so that is cool as well. Have a great day!
