Dinghy Owner
I have a wooden dinghy that I am trying to find history on. it's 10'2 long and 51" beam. It has a bronze? button inside the transom which has 1949 and in larger text 127 in it. The button is maybe 1 1/2" in dia. It is wood and canvas and similar in look to Old Town. Old Town has confirmed that it is not one of theirs. Another resource believes it to be a Penn Yan of New York. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to attach pics, we'll see.

I have attached some dinghy images from the 1949 Penn Yan catalog to see if they look like yours. I don't believe that any Penn Yan serial number records still exist. You may also want to get a copy of some of the Wood Canoe and Boat Catalogs on CD from http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm to see if yours looks like any of the dinghys from any of the other manufacturers. Good luck with the rest of your research.
