17 foot Old Town, sn #204811

Hello all,

I was wondering if I could trouble you for some information on a Old Town, green and 17ft long. The Serial is 204811 or 204311, I believe its the latter... There is a badging on the front which has the number xtc04811M75F, which I suddenly realize means that the Serial is pretty definitely 204811. Thanks for any help you can give me! And thank you all so much for doing all this work, it is so important for us to preserve this knowledge.

Old Town 204811 appears the best bet, because 204311 is a 12 footer... and you were right about the registration number containing part of the serial number and the year the canoe was completed. 204811 is a 17 foot Carleton model fiberglass canoe that was shipped to Scappoose, Oregon, on January 31, 1975. There is also a notation on the reverse of the card. Image of the scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image.
