Hi Dave-- This one sure didn't stray far! Old Town 144423 is a 16 foot CS (common sense or middle) grade Yankee model canoe that was completed March-May of 1946-- it appears that canoes suffered from wartime shortages into 1947, so this one may have some wartime features, such as slatted seats and no brass or copper. The gunwales are open spruce and the decks, thwarts, and seats are ash. It has a keel and was originally burnt orange. It was shipped to Camp Manitowish in Woodruff, WI ("notify at Boulder Junction") on May 9, 1946. Canoes really do like to stick around their original home, even if they aren't spayed or neutered.

It truely is a war-time canoe...slat seats, etc. It resides about a mile away from the camp.
