125642 - 15

Hi Dave--

Old Town 125642 is a 15 foot long CS (common sense) grade square end paddling canoe, finished August 1938 to February 1939. It has ash decks and thwarts, and the seats are ash and spruce. There is an additional rowing seat added to the package. The canoe has half ribs, outside stems, and a keel. It was originally dark green. Was shipped to Duluth, MN, on April 14, 1939.

The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Sounds like an interesting boat!

Kathy

Dave:

OT 125642 - 15 would appear to be a 15' Square End paddling canoe of CS grade with open spruce gunwales, ash decks and thwarts, and possibly both ash and spruce seats. It was equipped with a rowing seat, along with half ribs, OSS,and keel. Originally painted dark green and shipped to Kelley-How-Thomson, of Duluth, MN, on 14 April 1939. The scan of the build record is below.

Hope this helps.

Roger

Kathy obviously has the 'faster finger'. Seems we were both looking this up about the same time, and she got to the 'send' button a minute before I did.
