11' Old Town 1962 Prop From The Movie On Golden Pond ?

The Old Town canoe with serial number 171926 is an 11 foot long fifty pound model with a keel. It was built between March and May, 1962. The original exterior canvas covering was painted red. It shipped on May 8th, 1962 to Burbank, Calif. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The information at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Golden_Pond_(1981_film) indicates that the movie was released in 1981 and filmed in New Hampshire so it doesn't seem likely that they would have used this canoe. The messages at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?12713 describe some other canoes that were used in a movie. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
