Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Got a start this weekend on it. first glassed boat I have ever stripped went well 3 hrs with a heat gun, started stripping yesterday. It will need both stems, minor repairs to both decks, at least one cant rib and several others, outer and at least a scarfed partial inner rail, and some planking. There seems to be some cupping of the planking (from the glass?) will that straighten itself out? I am hoping for a restoration and want to maintain as much of the original as possible can anyone tell me what the bolts are which were used on the seats? they had plugs on top but are so rusted it is hard to tell. Any suggestions or help is as always much appreciated. It has very intersting planking fore and aft long triangular pieces fitted together in opposite directions.
