"Just one more"
This past winter I had no canoe to restore so I started making more paddles ( you can never have enough )! I wanted to make one that was different than the others I have made in the past, so I designed a new grip that works with multiple hand positions and has a finger groove in the center that tapers to the shaft. I have used this grip before but not with the finger groove. I used black walnut for its great color and strength and it weighs the same as my ash paddles. To finish it off I added a burned in moose. It is finished with Tung oil on the grip and two coats of thinned Man o War spar varnish matte finish. Can't wait to wet it! Joe
