1918 BN Morris, Restored 17' Canoe
This is a fully restored BN Morris 17' Cedar/Canvas canoe with serial number 16433. It is a Sport Model with 24” Torpedo decks and all Mahogany top wood, and a very rare find. It was manufactured in Veazie Maine about 1918. Katherine Kloss has written a book, The Morris Canoe, which is available thru the WCHA on line store and it summaries her research on the history of the Morris manufacturing company and the family and individuals who created it. She describes the various models produced by the Morris Company and the manufacturing process and design work that produced a canoe of outstanding quality. Many of its features were picked up by other major canoe manufacturers after the Morris factory burned in 1919 and was not rebuilt… This canoe is a collector's item for sure but it was restored to be a strong as it was when new. Great care has been used to insure that its appearance remains as close to original as possible. A three ring binder accompanies the canoe and includes pictures of the restoration, before, during and after, and any information we could find relating to its history.
